High Density Printing – Now Available
Hello,
We’re excited to introduce a new specialty service now available in our screen printing department: High Density Printing.
This process involves a special additive mixed into the ink that raises the graphic off the garment surface. It’s similar to puff printing, but more advanced, harder to produce, and more expensive. Unlike puff, which creates a rounded, loaf-like rise, High Density Printing produces crisp, sharp edges and results in a finish that feels more like a plastic emblem.
Key Features:
- Single Color Only: High Density can only be printed in one color per location. We cannot do multi-color high density prints in the same area.
- One High Density Print Per Location: Only one high density graphic is allowed per print location.
Height Options (Measured in Microns):
The visual impact of High Density Printing varies by the height (microns) of the raised ink. If no height is specified, we’ll default to Medium.
- Low Height: 100–300 microns – Requires 2 screens
- Medium Height: 300–500 microns – Requires 3 screens
- Tallest Height: 500–800 microns – Requires 5 screens
Screen Costs:
The screen charge for High Density Printing is 4x your standard screen rate. For example, if you normally pay $10/screen:
- Lowest Height (2 screens): $10 x 2 x 4 = $80
- Medium Height (3 screens): $10 x 3 x 4 = $120
- Tallest Height (5 screens): $10 x 5 x 4 = $200
Printing Charges:
Although the graphic appears as one color, the screen count determines the pricing tier. A Medium Height job, for example, will be charged as a 3-color print due to the 3 screens required.
In addition, there will be a per-piece charge. Please refer to the Discharge Ink section in your pricing sheet for this. High Density Printing will only be offered on orders of 96 pieces or more, similar to our discharge ink policy.
When to Use:
This is not a low-cost process and is best suited for large-volume orders (we recommend 1,000+ pcs) and/or premium clothing apparel lines looking to stand out.

We’re currently working on building a dedicated reference page that will include sample prints and cost breakdowns by micron height. We’ll also be creating broker-friendly samples in the near future that you can use with your customers. Expect this to be fully integrated into the 2026 Specialty Ink Pricing Chart.
Please reach out if you have any questions or want to discuss how High Density Printing can be used in your next project.
Thank you!
